This China Liubao 2013 tea has hints of betel nut, although not as strong as I have experienced.
It holds a continuous woody note, which doesn’t go astringent at all. Its a very clean tea, and not as dark as ripe (or shou) puerh can be. It’s a comfortable tea to drink, and perhaps even as a daily.
This China Liubao 2013 comes in a basket containing 500gms, or 50gm pouches.
Recommended Infusion instructions:
Boiling but not boiled water (100 degrees Celsius – fish eyes bubble size, see Tea Making for more info)
4-6gms of tea leaves to 100ml gaiwan/clay teapot
You can do a rinse but I don’t as I find with most teas, the first infusion is the most revealing.
Infusions 1 to 3: 10-15 seconds
Infusions 4 to 6: 15-30 seconds
Infusions 7+: 30 seconds +

I used to regard Liu Baos as weaker tasting shou’s – but this one is changing my mind and makes me start on a journey on drinking more Liu Bao’s! Especially after the 3rd brew: I like, that it is dark and clear, like a mature sheng pu erh, but without the astringency, and that makes it an option for even using it as an every day tea, my stomach likes it – or like a good shou, but without heavyness – and also after 2 brews strong enough to give me a warm grounding feeling (which the other teas and this 1st brew didn’t give) soooo šš
