Japanese Green Tea Leaves
Japanese Green tea has only a handful of varieties which are steamed and/or oven fired, and should exhibit the three necessary characteristics of good aroma, good taste, and good appearance. The medicinal qualities of green tea is what impressed the Buddhist scholars, and the original reason why they brought tea back to Japan from China in the 8th century. Spiritual and ceremonial properties came later. Japanese green teas are easily recognised by their fresh, grassy and vegetal flavours.
