China Green Gunpowder Pinhead Tea
Price range: £3.50 through £7.50
Another popular Chinese tea, China green gunpowder pinhead tea is a loose leaf tea that dates back to the Tang Dynasty (618-907) and is produced in the Zhejiang Province.
The tea consists of small, tightly rolled pellets which resemble gun shot ā hence the name. Gunpowder green tea is the base for Moroccan Mint tea where spearmint is added to create a refreshing drink that has been known to help digestion.
Available in 50gm and 125gm pouches.
Recommended Infusion instructions:
Near Boiling but not boiled water (90 degrees Celsius – crab to fish eyes bubble size, see Tea Making for more info)
5gms of tea leaves to 150ml gaiwan/clay teapot
You can do a rinse but I don’t as I find with most teas, the first infusion is the most revealing.
Infusions 1 to 2: 20-30 seconds
Infusions 3 to 4: 30-60 seconds
