China Loose Ripe Puerh Tea 2005
£5.75
This China Loose Ripe Puerh Tea 2005 is made from the “large leaf” variety of the tea plant and named after Pu’er County near Simao in Yunnan, China.
It is “loose” in terms of that it has not been tightly compressed into the “cake” or “disc” shape and therefore will develop in flavour and taste more quickly than if compressed.
The taste and smell are intriguing in that it has a very earthy taste, distinctive to the Puerh tea category.
This puerh has been “ripened” or has gone through the post fermentation process and therefore doesn’t have the rawness about it that shengcha or “raw” Puerh has about it. Great and cheap enough to have as an everyday cup of tea if Puerh is your thing. Having it this way means you don’t need to break in to your compressed Puerh stock all the time.
Available in 50g pouches

This tea brews up really dark and still has a strong flavor to it. The flavor had a lot going on it (medicinal, cherry, wood, earth) but personally it wasn’t a profile that I would find myself craving. Still had some nice qi and is a good value tea.
