China Black Dian Hong Gonfu Cha Tea Leaves

China Black Dian Hong GongFu Tea

£12.50

This beautifully presented China black Dian Hong Gongfu Tea (or red in China) loose leaf tea was produced from a farm in Feng Qing, in the Yunnan province.
Processed in the Spring of 2014 from tea grown at an altitude of 1000 metres, this relevant newcomer to the world of Chinese tea gives a reddish-brown liquor with an upfront rich, malty biscuit flavour. There is also what I can only describe as a teasing, high pitch floral note that makes you think “Did I just taste that?”. This tea leaves a nice, warm mouth feel afterwards.

Available in 50gm pouches

Recommended Infusion instructions:
Boiling but not boiled water (100 degrees Celsius – fish eyes bubble size, see Tea Making for more info)
5gms of tea leaves to 150ml gaiwan/clay teapot
You can do a rinse but I don’t as I find with most teas, the first infusion is the most revealing.
Infusions 1 to 3: 20-30 seconds
Infusions 4 to 6: 30-60 seconds
Infusions 7+: 60 seconds +

Most amazing, loosely rolled golden leaves, soft with fine hairs, like silk. Brewed it gong fu cha style, first 20 sec, which was a bit too little, then 40 sec, when the darker black tea flavour came through. Then the leaves had streched, and revealed the bud and one leaf. Great tea!
